In order to control over web users, the world’s most populated nation has passed new rules which require users to show ID when signing up services for web and phone. Citing a report provided by Xinhua News Agency, wsj.com reported that the new law will boost protection of personal information online and helping to maintain public interests.
There are over 550 million web users in China today. The Great Wall nation has placed censors on Internet content since the birth of the technology. The restriction on web users is critical to Communist Party rule, especially limiting access to sites or content showing pornography, conducting gambling activities, and propaganda against the government.
