Medical experts and researchers have urged the World Health Organization (WHO) to handle carefully on the deadly trade of counterfeit medicines around the world. A team of researchers led by Amir Attaran of the University of Ottawa, Canada, has written a research paper regarding the fake drugs. The report is being published by the British Medical Journal this week.
As per data provided by WHO, over 10 percent of drug products that are distributed in poorer countries (i.e., in Asia and Africa) are counterfeit medicines. However, many nations are still unwilling to sign a global treaty to crack down on the fake drugs.
