According to Automobile Club (AAA), 43.56 million people in America will travel during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend which will start on November 21. The number count of people who will travel is slightly increase from last year. Majority travelers will go as far as 50 miles from their homes during the holiday break.
Of all people who will travel in America next week, 39.1 million travelers (90%) will drive a car to their destinations while 3.1 million people (7%) will take a domestic plane and fly from one city to another city.
AAA also forecasted that the number of this year’s Thanksgiving travelers from Southern California (incl. Los Angeles, San Diego) will remain steady from last year. AAA estimated about 3.37 million people who live in Southland will get out of their homes over the holiday weekend, compared to last year’s total of 3.35 million travelers.
Of all travelers from Southern California, 2.93 million travelers (87%) will travel by car during the Thanksgiving holiday. The unit count of travelers by car is expected to increase 0.5 percent from 2011. Only 341,000 people in Southern California will fly in 2012, or a drop of 1.8% from 2011.
