Shoppers in America continue to flock into online stores during this year’s holiday season. Buyers are no longer relying on brick-and-mortar stores for their holiday shopping. Instead, they are now going online and buying electronic devices and equipment, fashion clothing for women and men, other stuffs. According to comScore, shoppers had spent over $10.1 billion during the first 18 days of November, compared to the same period one year ago, the total spending was $8.8 billion. This was an increase 16% within the past twelve months span.
comScore also noted that the highest level of shopping within 24-hours period occurred just two days after the America’s President Election on November 8. On this date, online sales recorded a total of $829 million.
With the election has passed, consumers in America also have high confidence on their spending sprees which contribute to the recent growth in online spending. The benefits of online shopping include less worry about traffic congestions, better pricing options with coupons, and more products to select from multiple stores.
In the meantime, comScore has projected that sales from online stores during the 2012 holiday season from November to December period could reach as high as $43.4 billion. Compared to one year ago, the total online spending was $37.2 billion. This is going to be an increase of 17% for the twelve months span.
