The survey was based on telephone interviews of 400,000 people who live America in 2011. There were two important data points to be collected during the interview include the respondent’s height and weight.
Some states in America continued to maintain their obesity rates, but some states also increased their BMI percentages. There are 12 States that hit above 30 percent obesity rates, include:
- Mississippi (34.9 percent)
- Louisiana (33.4)
- West Virginia (32.4)
- Alabama (32.0)
- Michigan (31.3)
- Oklahoma (31.1)
- Arkansas (30.9)
- Indiana (tie) (30.8)
- South Carolina (30.8)
- Kentucky (tie) (30.4)
