iFailed: Apple had a disappointed quarter and blamed on the future iPhone 5 as sales and profit missed Wall Street analysts’ early estimates

Smartphone subscribers are not buying the iPhone 4 that Apple is selling now at their stores and thru mobile phone operators.  Apple fans are so sure the next iPhone 5 to be called the “New iPhone” will be one of the best products in the planet.  Many tech watchers speculated the “New iPhone” will arrive in stores in the first week of October 2012.

Apple’s latest fiscal quarter, April-June, ended on June 30, 2012.  The Silicon Valley-based Company generated quarterly revenue of $35.0 billion (versus Wall Street’s guesstimate of $37.4 billion).  One year ago, the Company generated a total of $28.6 billion for the same quarter. This was an increase of $6.4 billion.   It had quarterly net profit of $8.8 billion, compared to one year ago which was at $7.3 billion, or an increase of $1.5 billion.   Sales from China and other countries continue to helping Apple’s revenue.  International sales contributed to about 62 percent of the latest quarter’s revenue.

Apple delivered 26.0 million iPhones during the quarter.  In term of number of units, this was an increase of 28 percent over the same quarter one year ago.  The Company also delivered 17.0 million iPads during the quarter.  In term of unit count, this was an increase of 84 percent over the same quarter one ago.
