After all the bad news lately, smartphone pioneer has some good numbers to show its users and investors. In a blog posted this weekend, Research In Motion (RIM) announced that they have reached the 3 billion download mark and averaging more than 2.5 million downloads per day from a total of 90,000 apps.
To compare the latest achievement with the previous milestones, BlackBerry team wrote that the team took 786 days to get the one billion mark. Then, to reach the two billion numbers, it took 210 days. For the current stats, it took only 176 days to reach the three billion mark.
BlackBerry competitors include Apple and Google Android. Apple announced they had reached the 25 billion downloads from a total of 650,000 apps in March 2012. For Android, the Google’s Play Store had reached 20 billion downloads from a total of 600,000 apps in June 2012.
BlackBerry smartphone is still a very popular device in many South East Asian countries including Indonesia and Malaysia. It is also a very popular smartphone in some Middle Eastern countries, such as United Arab Emirates.
