The world’s largest maker of Google Android operating system smartphone, Samsung, has just announced that the company’s accumulated sales of its popular smartphone, the Galaxy S and S II has reached over 50 million units worldwide. In a press release published on June 1 , 2012, Samsung said that the company has sold 24 million Galaxy S smartphones since its launch in June 2010. The next model, the Galaxy S II, was launched in summer 2011 has totaled 28 million units in sales (about 13 months period).
The South Korean-based company announced that the company also has sold over 7 million units of Galaxy Note which was launched near the end of 2011. The Galaxy Note is equipped with a pen and is a very popular device in Asian countries for helping to write in local languages. Galaxy Note has a larger screen (5.3-inch) which the largest smartphone in the market. The Note has been averaging one million sales per month since launch.
In early May 2012, Samsung announced a new model called Galaxy S III. The new phone is now on sales in European, Middle Eastern, and Asian countries. Many tech watchers believe that the new phone will come to America by the end of June 2012, just in time to start the summer vacation.
Samsung is the official sponsor of 2012 Olympic in London. The world’s largest sport event will start on July 27 and will close on August 12, 2012.
