Wireless subscribers who use Windows Phone handsets such as Nokia Lumia, HTC Titan, Samsung Focus can now download Skype mobile app version 1.0. The Internet communication service lets users to place call, video call and sending messages and texting to friends and family around the world. Most of domestic calls within America are free on Skype, but some International calls are charged with small fees.
Skype is now owned by Microsoft which acquired the VOIP infrastructure from the previous owner (eBay and a team of investors) for over $8.5 billion.
In February of this year, Microsoft introduced Skype mobile app during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Skype app version 1.0 is catered for Windows Phone. The app works over 4G, 3G or Wi-Fi. It also required users to have Windows Phone 7.5 or higher operating system to run the app.
