The world’s largest mobile device company has ended its promotion to give away a $10,000 gift card redeemable in its iTunes Store on March 2, 2012. The Silicon Valley-based company has finally reached 25 billion downloads from the App Store on Friday. The promotion for countdown to 25,000,000,000 apps was initially started on February 13, 2012, as Apple marketing team urged users to keep downloading apps until the store hit the record number.
Many tech watchers and tech bloggers tried to predict the precise date for Apple to reach 25 billion apps. Two weeks ago tech bloggers such as thenextweb.com predicted that the average download was about 48.6 million apps per day. The tech site has finally predicted correctly to get the 25 billion apps by March 2.
There is no official press release from Apple as the company is busy preparing the iPad 3 launch next week. Apple’s homepage shows a banner of record breaking and thanks its loyal customers. The website also noted that one winner will be picked soon to receive the $10,000 Apple Store Gift Card. With this huge gift card, one lucky winner can purchase 20 units of basic model of iPads version 3.
