One of the popular Japanese gaming company, Nintendo, announced Tuesday that the Nintendo 3DS has surpassed 4 million units sales in America. The glasses-free 3D handheld was initially launched in its homeland Japan in February 2011, later in North America in the last week of March, 2011.
Nintendo 3DS sales in America were kind of slow at the start until early November when the Japanese company introduced two popular titles using Super Mario franchise, Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7. Nintendo claimed that they have already sold over 1 million copies of the two titles in America and making those two titles as the fastest-selling titles in the history.
In addition, the gaming company has sold over 12 million units of hardware in America in 2011, including Wii gaming console, 3DS handheld, and basic DS handheld. The company has sold over 4.5 million units of Wii, about 4 million units of 3DS handheld, and over 3.4 million units of classic DS handheld.
