The world’s largest mobile devices company Apple has started to utilizing home grown microprocessors in its popular products iPhone 4S and iPad 2. While the Silicon Valley-based company is still using low-cost production and assembling lines in China and other part of Asia regions, and South America, Apple started getting the newest chips from a factory which is located in Austin, Texas. The factory owner is Apple’s closest competitor in term of mobile devices, Korean-based Company Samsung Electronics.
According to reuters.com, the main brain for Apple’s products called A5 processor is manufactured in Austin using a newly constructed facility which cost Samsung about $3.6 billion to build. The size of the facility is equal to nine American football fields. reuters.com also reported that Samsung has been producing A5 processors for quite some time, but the Korean-based Company reached full production in just few weeks ago.
