America’s Department of Agriculture (USDA) is planning to launch new diet plan to help Americans controlling their eating habits and replacing the old pyramid charts with new plate charts. The government agency along with other agencies and private sector will start campaign to reach consumers at households, educational places, offices, and food chains such as supermarkets and restaurants.
According to webmd.com, the new plate charts are designed to improve the health of Americans and will be announced on Thursday June 2. As per webmd.com, the government agency will start using several types of messages to reach American people and targeting to change their eating habits, such as:
- Urge Americans to eat less but also enjoy their foods
- 50% of daily consumption should include fruits and vegetables.
- Low-fat (1%) milk is better than regular milk
- Pick meals with the lowest numbers in term of sodium contain
- Water is better than juice or soft drink with a lot sugars
