While NBA playoffs are still on the way in America, center position of a basketball team needs to pay attention with the latest medical study. A typical NBA center usually is about 6-foot-10 (2.08 meter).
Using sample of 26,714 adult men at age from 25 to 97, a team of researchers led by senior author Sigrid K. Braekkan of the Hematological Research Group at the University of Tromso in Norway, found higher risk for men who are being tall and obese. Researchers in Norway believe that tall men and obese could die suddenly due to blood clots. Several types of blood clots that tall and obese men suffered include in the lung, in the leg and hip area. The study is now available online and published by Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology journal.
Researchers in Norway found obese men who are about 6 feet or taller have five times higher risk for blood clots that men who are at normal weight and at about 5-foot-7 or shorter, as reported by HealthDay News.
