Starting next month, a hospital in eastern Pennsylvania, St. Luke's Hospital and Health Network in the city of Bethlehem, will tell all prospective employees who are currently smokers need not apply for any positions at this organization. New hires will be tested for nicotine and if they failed, they will be rejected.
As reported by cbs3.com citing Bob Zimmel, the hospital's senior VP of HR department said "We decided as an organization the right thing to do for us is to screen these applicants and if they test positive for nicotine, they won't be eligible for hire at that point in time."
