After almost 4 months since Microsoft’s big announcement in Los Angeles on June 18, the software giant has finally revealed the asking price for the mobile device called Surface on Tuesday morning, October 16, 2012. As soon as the announcement, Microsoft has started taking pre-order at 9:00am Pacific Time via Microsoft Store online.
Surface is a hybrid of a tablet and a laptop personal computer. It will run on the new operating system called Windows 8 RT. The screen is touchable and almost similar to an Apple iPad. The mobile device can be hook-up with a cover which is functioned as a keyboard called Touch Cover.
In today’s announcement, Microsoft said that the company will sell three models of the Surface. All devices will have 2 GB RAMs for memory. They will only differ in term of disk space. The very basic model with 32GB hard-drive space will cost $499. If the basic model is bundled with a Touch Cover, the asking price is $599 (or, $100 extra for the cover). If users will buy the cover separately, the cover will cost $119.99. The top model with 64GB space with a Touch Cover will cost $699.
