The growth of Internet largest superstores have benefited from tax breaks in America over 15 years since Amazon ecommerce site was launched in 1995. Amazon has successfully selling a ton of stuffs without collecting sales tax which also has advantage over many brick-and-mortar stores.
Many Californians have been flocking into Amazon site in the past few weeks and buying new stuffs and gadgets (such as Kindle e-reader and Kindle Fire HD) as the no-tax will end today midnight. Starting on Saturday, September 15, 2012, the largest state in America will require ecommerce sites to collect sales tax from buyers.
The law to collecting tax from Internet stores such as Amazon was approved by Governor Jerry Brown one year ago. Brown was elected as the governor of California in 2010 replacing Arnold Schwarzenegger after two terms as a governor. The bill was signed one year ago in San Francisco and required one year to start the state’s sales tax rules.
