Using a sample of 117 men, a team of researchers at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) found eating walnuts everyday will improve human sperm quality and vitality. The study was led by Wendie A. Robbins of UCLA Center for Occupational and Environmental Health, Fielding School of Public Health. The study with a title “Walnuts Improve Semen Quality in Men Consuming a Western-style Diet: Randomized Control Dietary Intervention Trial” is being published in Biology of Reproduction on August 15, 2012.
Researchers divided the sample into two groups. One group consisted of 59 men and consuming walnuts, as this group experienced improvement in sperm quality and vitality. This group of men was given 75 grams of walnuts every day for duration of 12 weeks.
The second group consisted of 58 men and avoiding walnuts, as this group of men showed no improvements in their sperm quality and vitality.
