Cigarette use dropped slightly between 2010 and 2011, as Americans cut costs as the average price of a pack of cigarettes reached about $6. Cigarette use dropped about 2.6% in recent years.

The findings were published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on August 3, 2012, with a report title as “Consumption of Cigarettes and Combustible Tobacco, United States, 2000–2011.”
