A team of researchers led by Benedict W. Wheeler of Peninsula College of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Exeter, England, found that men and women who live near the sea and the coast (such as Santa Monica Beach or Malibu Beach) may be healthier than other geographic locations (such as Los Angeles Downtown).
The study with a title “Does living by the coast improve health and wellbeing?” analyzed data from over 48 million people in England. The results showed that the closest people lived to the sea and the coast, the higher chances of those people testified good health within the span of the past one year. The study is being published in the journal Health & Place.
The British researchers believe that people have better health due to reduce stress in the seaside location. People had visited the coast could have better relaxing and feelings of calmness than people who had visited cityscapes.
