As one of the world’s largest web portals, Yahoo! will pay the new CEO Marissa Mayer about $60 million to $100 million in wage, stock, bonus and retention rewards over the next five years. There were two conflicting estimates on how much Yahoo! will pay the new CEO. businessweek.com reported that Ms. Mayer will receive as much as $59 million in total paychecks over the coming years. While Wall Street Journal estimated that she will receive about $100 million in wage, stock, bonus and retention programs over the next five years.
The last two Yahoo! CEOs also received a big paycheck. businessweek.com found Scott Thompson was making close to $30 million before he resigned his position in May 2012 due to his resume credential issue. Carol Bartz received a paycheck close to $10 million before she was fired in early September 2011.
Ms. Mayer was a former Google’s top executive who handled the search engine product and features including maps and local advertising. Many experts believe that Yahoo have to pay a sizable wage to Ms. Mayer due to her experiences and skills sets.
