Two of the most popular Japanese brands, Toyota and Honda, captured five spots of America’s top 10 best-selling cars in May 2012. Toyota Camry was ranked number two of the top 10 best-selling cars. Camry sales in May 2012 almost doubled the sales of May 2011. The popular family car is gaining more buyers with a redesigned model. As per data from cars.com, Toyota sold 39,571 units of Camry in May 2012. Camry sales increased over 110% from one year ago. Another Toyota model, Corolla, was ranked number five and sold 31,847 units. Compared to one year ago, this was an increase of 87.5%.
Honda captured three spots of the America’s top 10 best-selling cars in May 2012. The second year redesigned Honda Civic was ranked number four and sold 33,490 units. Compared to one year ago, this compact model has an increase of 82.6% in sales. Meanwhile Honda has showed off the redesigned family car Honda Accord 2013 model at Detroit Auto Show early January this year and scheduled for launch this fall. However, buyers still flocked into Honda showroom and buying ‘old’ model of Accord as it sold 29,737 units. Compared to one year ago, this was an increase of 74.7%. Accord was ranked number six in May 2012. The redesigned Honda CRV captured number ten spot and sold 25,186 units. CRV was delayed to enter the showroom due to flood in Thailand and earthquake in Japan last year. The new redesigned CRV gained 54.4% in term of sales compared to one year ago.
