One of the top Ivy League universities located in the city of Ithaca near Syracuse, New York, will get 22,000 square feet free office space from the world’s largest search engine company. The free office space for Cornell University will be located in the same building as Google’s office in New York City.
Cornell University has started building a “mini” Silicon Valley which is also known as CornellNYC Tech and to be used as new campus on Roosevelt Island. This will reduce the need of driving about 220 miles (4 hours) from New York City to Cornell’s main campus in Ithaca. In about five years, students and professors will be able to work and stay in the new campus in CornellNYC.
The partnership between the three institutions, Google, Cornell, and New York City government, will help to expand local economic development. This will also boost NYC reputation as a new Silicon Valley and could further nurture entrepreneurships in tech industry.
