With over 901 million users, the world’s largest social networking company just launched Facebook App Center. This is an all-in-one place for Facebook users to get the latest available of social apps that run on web, desktop, and mobile apps. Only two types of mobile operating system are currently supported, Apple iOS and Google Android. No news on Microsoft Windows Phone and RIM BlackBerry.
The App Center will mainly serve as a resource site gearing toward helping developers to sell apps and allow them to discover business opportunity and find a distribution channel. Facebook is hoping that developers to build great apps using Facebook platform and at the same time they can make money by selling their apps to the 901 million potential customers.
In order to provide the best apps for the 901 million users, Facebook analytic team will be collecting users’ feedback and ratings on each app. The analytic team will also be gathering traffic data (such as time spent, returning users, etc.) from web and mobile devices. Then, both set of data will determine scores of the best of the best apps. Only good scores will be continuing listed while bad scores will be dropped.
Facebook urged developers to submit a detailed page regarding their apps including print screen shots and some kind of descriptions about the app. To be included in the App Center everyone must have a Facebook login account. After the App Center team has reviewed all applications then they will be listed in App Center.
