The world’s largest Internet TV network added 1.74 million domestic subscribers in the first quarter of 2012. Netflix now had 23.41 million domestic streaming subscribers. This segment of subscribers generated $507 million in revenue with contribution profit of $67 million.
In the global arena, Netflix added 1.21 million streaming subscribers and now has 3.07 million international streaming subscribers. This segment generated only $43 million, but with contribution loss of $103 million.
While more users connect to Internet to utilize Netflix services, the number of DVD subscribers dropped to 10.09 million subscribers in Q1-2012, or a loss of 1.08 million subscribers. This segment generated revenue of $320 million and with contribution profit of $146 million.
