A super rich Wall Street investment firm had purchased a rare gold coin minted in 1787 for $7.4 million. Citing data from a New Orleans-based company Blanchard & Co., AP reported that the most expensive coin was minted by Ephraim Brasher, a classic goldsmith and friend of America’s first president George Washington.
According to AP, the rare coin contains 26.66 grams of gold or about one ounce. The original price tag was $15, but with today’s gold price, the rare coin will be valued at about $1,500. Brasher is considered as the pioneer of gold coin maker in America which used dollars as standard value.
