The world’s largest search engine is adding 625,000 new signees per day to the newly launch Google+ social networking service. During the beta testing in summer 2011, only few good men and women can get an account, but then the services started to open for public in September. New referrers are helping Google to get more users via family and friends.
According to Paul Allen of FamilyLink.com, Google+ (plus) can hit 400 million users by December 2012. This will be about half the size of the world’s largest social network Facebook.
Using some historical data, Allen showed Google+ had 10 million users by July 13, 2011. Then, citing Google’s CEO Larry Page, the total reached 40 million users on October 13, 2011. As of today December 27, 2011, Google+ has a total of 62 million users.

Sadly, this hasn't been realized as some of the latest figures indicate an average of around 50-90m users, not nearly half of what they had hoped the numbers would be.
