France’s parliament of lower house approved a ban on women wearing burqa-style Islamic veils (headscarves). Lawmakers tried to protect French values and women's equality, as reported by AP. The law will take effect as soon as France Senate agreed on the ban in September while many believe it will likely to pass.
According to AP, France has a total population of 64 million people and also as the most populous Muslim nation in Europe. There are about 5 million people (8% of the population) are believed to be Muslim in France.
Other nations in Europe include Spain and Belgium has considered a similar type of law to ban women wearing burqa-style Islamic veils.
