Since America economy entered recession in early 2008, the overall birth rate dropped 2 percent from 2007 to 2008. This was based on the latest data from America’s National Center for Health Statistics, as reported by washingtonpost.com. According to the government data, only 4.2 million babies were born in 2008.
Also, birth rate for teens ages 15 to 19 dropped about 2 percent. In 2008, only 41.5 births per 1,000 teens for this age group.
